Oh, it bothered us. We just acted cool about it.

Things Women Pretend Don't Bother Them

We say we're fine. Sometimes we're even telling the truth. Sometimes we're absolutely not.

We All Do It

Women are funny creatures.

We'll say, "It doesn't bother me."

Then spend the next three days replaying it in our heads.

Not because we're dramatic.

Because we're human.

And there are certain things women pretend don't bother them that absolutely do.

The Little Things

Being left on read.

Being the only one who reached out.

Not being invited.

Having someone forget your birthday.

Getting talked over in a meeting.

Walking into a room and realizing everyone else got the memo except you.

Do these things ruin our lives?

No.

Do they sting a little?

Absolutely.

The Aging Things

The first chin hair.

The first pair of reading glasses.

The first time a younger person calls you "ma'am."

The realization that your body now makes noises simply because you stood up too fast.

We laugh about it.

We joke about it.

But let's be honest.

Some of those things hit a little harder than we'd like to admit.

The Invisible Things

Feeling unappreciated.

Feeling taken for granted.

Feeling like everyone comes to you with their problems but nobody asks how you're doing.

Watching friendships change.

Watching your children need you less.

Watching your parents need you more.

Those are the things women don't always talk about.

But they're often the things sitting quietly in the back of our minds.

The Truth

Years behind the salon chair have taught me something.

Most women aren't looking for perfection.

They're looking to feel seen.

To feel appreciated.

To feel remembered.

To feel like they matter.

And the funny thing is most of us are walking around thinking we're the only ones who feel that way.

We're not.

Not even close.

So if something bothered you today, it's okay to admit it.

You don't have to pretend you're unbothered by everything.

Sometimes honesty is a lot less exhausting.
